Bio - The new voice of “Chill”

“I march to the beat of a different drum…and I bang my own drum.”

It seems Yvette Williams would be considered the new kid on the music scene but that is quite the contrary. Yvette hails from Denver, Colorado by way of Queens, New York. A lover of all music, she is influenced by Latin, Classical and Jazz, which is reflected in her compositions. With her mother, a classical pianist and her father, skilled in Latin percussion and six other instruments, Yvette was destined to perform. At the age of five she was the designated entertainment for all of her friends on the school playground-and loved every minute of it.

Yvette currently resides in Dayton, Ohio and is better known by those in the Dayton/Columbus area as “The Diva” from local radio. She has been the number one rated and most listened to on-air personality in the Dayton market for years and is now ready to spin her own records. Her debut CD is entitled “Diary of a Diva” and made its radio debut in November 2005 on WDSJ-FM in Dayton. She is currently working on a Christmas album for 2008.

Music aside, Yvette has always been active and progressive in her communities. She is a local award winning bodybuilder, certified fitness trainer and sports nutritionist, keynote speaker, award winning journalist and community leader. She holds a Masters Degree in creative writing, is working on her Doctorate of Education and currently works to improve the quality of education in the Dayton community.

Yvette has opened for national acts such as Destiny’s Child, Will Downing, Gerald Albright, Alex Bugnon, and Bobby Womack. She treasures the evening she shared the stage with late great bandleader and Latin percussionist Tito Puente in one of his final performances and regularly brings sports crowds to their feet with her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.

Yvette’s CD expresses many turning points in her life—broken hearts, broken spirits, deception, and pain-all very dark subjects. Her response to that is “There is no testimony without a test.”
